Tungasuvvingat Inuit Board members have a wide variety of backgrounds and expertise and share a common interest in community services for Inuit living outside of Inuit Nunangat.

The Board normally meets 6-8 times per year and as needed for special projects or initiatives.

The Board of Directors governs Tungasuvvingat Inuit by setting the strategic direction of the organization. The Board oversees and works with the Executive Director in providing a working environment which ensures that Inuit cultural and historical values are reflected in all corporate decisions and undertakings.

Christa Kunuk

Acting President
Term: September, 22 2024 to September 21, 2027

Christa Kunuk lives in Iqaluit, Nunavut. She brings over 20 years of experience supporting and working with children, youth, and families across Nunavut. Her dedication is in areas of mental health, counselling, and advocacy.

Christa’s work is deeply rooted in cultural safety, family wellness, and meaningful, practical systems change. She is passionate about creating space for Inuit voices and perspectives in every aspect of her work.

She is grateful for the opportunity to learn from and support the Inuit communities of Ontario, as well as to contribute to programming at Tungasuvvingat Inuit.

Qajaq Robinson

Vice-President
Term: September. 24, 2020 to September 22, 2026

Qajaq Robinson is a lawyer and mediator with a focus on regulatory, administrative, Indigenous, and human rights law. She runs her own mediation and legal practice and previously served as one of the Commissioners for the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. Her career has also included work with the Specific Claims Tribunal, the Public Prosecution Service of Canada, national law firms, and community organizations in Nunavut.

Shannon Montpellier

Shannon has called Ottawa home since she began her studies in Accounting at the University of Ottawa and she began her journey to becoming a CPA.  Over the years she has gained extensive experience across a variety of industries from Real Estate to Not for Profit, and Banking to Aviation.  For the last few years Shannon has been consulting as a CFO with small and medium sized businesses, and has worked closely with a variety of Not for Profit Boards.

Eletha Caza

Director

Term: September 21st, 2024 to September 20th, 2027.

Eletha is originally from Iqaluit currently living in Ottawa. Eletha was part of the 2023 Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami IYLP – Inuit Youth Leadership Program. During her time spent at ITK she’s worked on various policy files such as food security, education & housing/homelessness. She then carried out her passion to serve the community & began to work at the Ottawa transitional housing shelter at Shepherds of Good Hope. She’s now with the Public Health Agency of Canada as a Program Consultant for the Northern Region. Eletha is excited to be a member of the Tungasuvvingat Inuit (T.I) board of directors as she enjoys being an advocate for our urban Inuit. 

Terry Lyall

My name is Terry Lyall I was born and raised in Nain, Nunatsiavut, NL. I spent 20 years as a member of the RCMP taking me to all corners of Canada and settling in Russell, ON, 30  minutes south east from downtown Ottawa. I am currently a Corporate Security Officer for Nasittuq, the contract holder for the care and control of the North Warning System which has 47 radar sites all across the arctic, my position now is ensure all employees hold the appropriate security clearance for the position they hold within the company, ensure the security of information is protected and secure in doing so my position takes me to all areas of the arctic.
